The Center for Photographic Art’s
State of the Art (SOTA) Online Juried Competition: The Human Spirit
To celebrate our State of the Art (SOTA) exhibition at the R. Blitzer Gallery in Santa Cruz, CPA is hosting a thematic online competition! All photography-based mediums are welcome. Entrants will vie for $500 in awards, receive recognition and feedback and share their work with a global audience. All entries will be featured on a special SOTA gallery on the CPA website and all entrants are encouraged to direct friends and followers to cast votes for them in the Viewer’s Choice Award. At the close of the competition our jurors will host an engaging discussion on the submissions that best illustrate the theme and will also announce the award recipients.
From elation and joy to sadness and despair, from persistence and confidence to doubt and hesitation, the human spirit is boundless. These experiences fuel the soul and serve as a springboard for creative inspiration. The CPA SOTA Online Juried Competition welcomes imagery that highlights the human spirit as a major creative component. These moments may emanate from within the artist as defining revelations of one’s creative journey, or they may document evidence of successes and shortcomings in everyday life. Whether found within private, intimate spaces or as part of the natural landscape or the inner city, here’s your opportunity to share thoughtful and provocative imagery with a large audience.
We are honored to have Ann Hazel, Director, Radius Gallery, Santa Cruz, and photographer, educator and CPA Assistant Director, Rick Murai as jurors for this competition. They bring a deep appreciation and a broad understanding of diverse photographic mediums, genres and techniques.
A lively and informative jurors’ talk and awards announcement will take place on Saturday, November 17, 4:00-6:00pm, R. Blitzer Gallery, Santa Cruz.
We hope that you will enjoy and participate in this competition juried by experts and by the public!
