Photographing is a form of meditation for me. Everything slows down; my senses come alive while my mind focuses on the moment. I am constantly drawn to the contrasts in life. What I see around me whether it is in form, light or subject matter forms an element of contrast, and my eye searches for this.
I have been blessed to have been around photography all my life in one way or another. It was not until I was older that I realized the impact my heritage had on me. Viewing amazing images all my life did bring focus to my vision and the way I see the world.
I photograph and create for myself, and when people like my images it is the icing on the cake!]

Artist Bio

Cara Weston is a fine art photographer living and working in Carmel, California. She is the daughter of renowned photographer Cole Weston and actress Helen Prosser-Weston, the niece of Brett Weston, and granddaughter of Edward Weston—widely recognized as a leading visionary in modern photography.

Cara worked with both her father Cole and her uncle Brett, and has followed the path of her heritage. Her two decades of photography reveals her respect for the craftsmanship tradition of the medium, and reflects a unique voice within her family.

In addition to her work as a photographer, Cara is the former director of the internationally renowned Weston Gallery in Carmel. There she curated exhibitions for luminaries such as Yousuf Karsh, Ansel Adams, Michael Kenna and of course Edward, Cole and Brett Weston. In addition, she has curated several exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York featuring today’s fine art photographers. She has also published a book of photographs, a compilation of cloud studies called, Head in the Clouds.
